About The Best Translation

The Best Translation is a translation office at Blanická 1008/28 in Prague 2. Visits are by prior arrangement — call or write before coming in person.

Why Foreign Couples Need a Translator in Prague

Getting married in the Czech Republic as a foreign national means paperwork, and most of it has to be presented in Czech. Birth certificates, certificates of no impediment, divorce decrees and death certificates typically need certified translation, and in many cases an apostille or superlegalisation from the issuing country first. A certified (soudní) translator’s stamp is what the registry office accepts; an ordinary translation is not enough.

On the Day

Czech law also requires an interpreter at the ceremony itself if either party does not understand Czech. That interpreter must be officially registered, and the registry office will ask for their details in advance. It is a separate booking from the document translation, and it is the requirement couples most often discover late.

Timing

Start the paperwork earlier than feels necessary. Apostilles from abroad can take weeks, and every certificate has a validity window. If you are unsure what your specific situation requires, ask us — the answer depends on your nationalities and marital histories.
